Philly Loves Families Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week 2022

Every year since 1992, World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is celebrated globally from August 1 to 7. The goal of WBW is to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding. Each year, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), who initiated WBW, choses a different theme. The 2022 theme is “Educate and Support.”

Philly Loves Families and the Philadelphia Health Department are happy to participate in and celebrate WBW annually and use this time to renew our year-round commitment to supporting Philadelphia’s lactating parents and all those who feed human milk to their infants. Part of this commitment is our programming for breast/chest/body feeding families. In addition to August 1-7 being World Breastfeeding Week, the month of August is National Breastfeeding Month. Stay tuned to our Philly Loves Families Facebook page each week of August for details on all our lactation-focused programs for Philadelphia families.
