What is a doula? A doula is a trained professional who provides non-clinical (and non-judgmental!) support during your pregnancy, your labor, and delivery, and in the postpartum period—up to a whole year!
Doula support is provided at no cost to you. Services with your doula are voluntary.
Families we serve
ReACH Doula Services supports two primary groups of families:
SUD track: Compassionate, non‑judgmental support for individuals navigating substance use disorder (SUD) during pregnancy and early postpartum.
Healthy Start track: Guidance for healthy pregnancy, birth prep, and postpartum wellness. Families who live in the following zip codes are eligible to enroll in the Healthy Start program: 19104, 19131, 19139, 19142, 19143, 19145, 19146, 19151, 19153.
Benefits of Doula Support
Increased positive overall labor and delivery experiences.
Assistance identifying supportive paths to care for and manage recovery from substance use while parenting (for SUD track).
Connection to community resources and referrals to other programs and services.
Accompaniment to medical/other appointments for you and baby.
Advocacy with healthcare providers, ensuring you are clear about what is happening and coming up with questions to ask.
Help to design a birth plan that works for you.
Doula Support includes
Continuous support throughout labor and delivery.
Lactation support and education
NICU/Intensive Care Nursery support if your baby is admitted.
Support and Advocacy for families who are DHS involved. Support in working towards reunification in the event of separation of the child.
Monthly diapers, wipes and other supplies for your baby.
Monthly virtual support group for all parents in the SUD track ($25 gift card provided for attending).
